2 charities.

1 common goal.

To protect, to preserve, to promote the ideology of "work hard, play hard."

In memory of Carter Kosick.

About Carter.

Carter Kosick was a teenage son to Tyler and Angela; a sibling to his twin sister Brook and younger brother to Riley. He was a grandson, a cousin, a coworker to many but ultimately he was a friend to everyone he met.

Carter was born in Fort St John, British Columbia in 2006 and raised there until the family relocated to Salmon Arm in 2019 where he lived until his passing in 2025.

Carter created a love of the outdoors from a young age growing up on a farm, spending time on the rivers, lakes and in the backcountry until he ultimately found his love of the mountains where he spent countless days mountain biking, dirt biking skiing and snowmobiling.  Fitting enough, the mountains, on a snowmobile is where he spent his last day in this world until he was taken from us as an innocent bystander in a vehicle accident.

Carter had recently graduated and was pursuing a career in the trades.  He was a hard-working young man. Growing up on a farm he learned to operating machinery and was no stranger to hard manual labour but his best attribute was his caring soul.

He was a typical young man that enjoyed partying and risk-taking, but on the inside he was a kind, respectful and caring individual often praised for his character by friends and coworkers alike.  These attributes were shown in his final gift on this earth by being an organ donor; in the process helping multiple individuals he had never met.

It is in this memory that the family has created two different foundations to carry on his legacy of work hard, play hard.

The Carter Kosick
Memorial Fund.

In conjunction with the Shuswap Community Foundation, The Carter Kosick Memorial Fund was established shortly after his passing.  Carter was pursing the trade of Instrumentation and had been working as an apprentice in the oil and gas industry for just over a year in Northern British Columbia. He was set to start the schooling portion of his trade after his next shift.  He was an instrumental piece of the family beef farm and was an active 4H member.   He spent time around the family gravel business which also gave him experience in mining.

In memory of his “work hard” experience, the main objective of the Carter Kosick Memorial Fund is to providing annual bursaries in British Columbia for those individuals pursuing a career in the trades, agriculture, oil and gas or mining industries.

The application form for the Carter Kosick Memorial Fund Scholarship will be made available Fall/Winter 2025. Please check back for further information and the link.

The Carter Kosick
Memorial Society.

With the Memorial Fund well under way, Carter's family found the fund meaningful but also restrictive in their vision and ability to give back to the “play hard” community, so later in 2025 the Carter Kosick Memorial Society was formed.

The member funded, not for profit society allows the family to raise funds through fundraising efforts such as raffles, silent auctions and apparel sales as well as donations from its members.  The purpose of these funds is to give back to the recreational activities Carter was passionate about with a focus on youth.

Whether its 4H, dirt biking or snowmobiling, among other outdoor activities, the Society is working to partner with established local clubs that share our passion and to assist their efforts to promote youth safely accessing the beautiful BC backcountry which became Carter's second home.
